I find it very hard to belive you were turned down for disability. Are you talking about social security disability? If you were turned down you have a chance to appeal also you can get a lawyer who deals in only this field. You need to look on the web site for social security disability and follow the instructions to apply. Good Luck
I would just like to find out if anyone has any new and updated information on my request for dental help. My earlier post stated I needed desperate dental work. I am a cancer survivor and after treatment I developed fibromyalgia which leaves you in pain about 98% of the time. Taking pain med and chemotheaphy damaged my teeth from the inside as well as the outside. The result, they are breaking off and I have developed infections one after the other. I do fear for my heart as repeated infections can cause damage. I also suffer from bipolar disorder which doesn't help any of the other problems, just makes me worry more about what to do and fear that I may have a manic attack and do something stupid. On the other hand I do find myself slipping into a deep depression and fear another trip to the hospital, which is impossible as again no health insurance. I do not like being this way and in the past have worked so hard at trying to maintain a productive lifestyle. All I need is the path to lead me in the direction of finding help to get the issue taken care of.
Thank anyone who has input!
There are a lot of people who are mentally changelled, I suffer from bipolar disorder. One day I'm great, next I may be the psych ward. I take meds to control it all and I must stay on them. Are you getting any treatment? It is up to you how much you want to do with your life as to how well you take care of your self. God will never give you more then you can handle. Stand-up, take a deep breath and start living. Everyone deserves to be happy. To start, join a talk group on the web and become positive. Learn all you can and share your information. Call the local crisis line and find a support group. No one should ever be alone. You need to put one foot in front of the other and take baby steps, just a little at a time. God Bless and Good Luck

First of all where do you live? Next, contact www.breastcancer.org/faq_insur ance.html-14k, also your local breast cancer chapter. You can locate one through a good hospital or clinic. I am a breast cancer survivor of 7yrs. I had insurance and had never used it until then. I continued to use it often right up to my medical disability retirement of last year. I am 54 now, I was 46 at the time of cancer. I now have no insurance. I can't believe your doctor isn't helping you out by pointing you in the right direction. You will have to prove you have no ability to pay. Don't delay any longer, get help now !!
I am also searching for dental care at a range I can afford. Funny we make to much to get assistance but not enough to afford insurance. I am newly retired on social security disability. To much for medicaid, to early for medicare. I had six teeth removed and it cost me $1400.00. Can't afford those prices. I'm going to check into a government grant and see where it takes me. If I find out anything I'll let you know. Stay strong, God only gives us as much as we can handle.
For United Way, look in the front section of your phone book or call your local crisis line. I do hope you find what you need. My father taught me this... As long as you try your best, someone will always be there to help. It is when you quit trying and you turn around you will find no one there. Stay strong and believe in yourself.
Anna, First, is your Mom retired or on disability of any kind. If she is disabled contact your local social security office right away and apply. You can apply online, be sure and read up on how to apply and tips on winning your award of benefits. I live in Kent, WA. I just went through this last year. Also I'm looking into the many government grant programs that do not have to be repaid. You should also check what the poverty level is for number of people you support and your income, also avail on web. Call every one you can think of, last result would have to be bankruptcy and I hope you do not have to go there as I did. In the last seven years I have dealt with breast cancer, bankruptcy, bipolar, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, a break-up of a 12yr relationship, attempted sucide 4 times and had to retire on social security disability. I'm still hanging in there and so can you! Every time I get on the Internet, I find a new place to look for help.
You sound a lot like myself when I was your age. I was a single mother and raised a son. He is now grown and has three of his own. I didn't like leaving my son but did my best to make sure he was with family or had a nanny of sorts ( live-in babysitter, friends teenager, etc.). When I was home I made sure we did almost everything together. I had to work three different jobs to make ends meet. I worked a graveyard shift for sometime. Went to work when he went to bed, home in time to send him to school, slept and studied in the day and was there when he came home. I admit it wasn't easy. You have to want to succeed and stand on your own two feet. Remember, God only gives you what you can handle.
I know what your feeling. Please contact your local United Way chapter. I donated to them for many many years, just for this reason. You have to stand on your own two feet and work hard at trying to get help. You have already started. Don't give up and don't give in. Remember... God will only give you as much as you can handle. You should also find someone to talk with, either here on this site, privately ( such as a hot line) or in person. It is very important!!!
I came across this site while looking for dental help. I'm not sure how to go about this but I DO need direction. I am 54 old female, had to retire on social security disability two years ago due to bipolar disorder and fibromyalgia. I have no medical insurance but make to much to qualify for medicaid , and not able to collect medicare yet. I must take medication to control my bipolar disorder and to keep my pain level down from the fybromyaligia. I am in desperate need of dental work. I need the remaining teeth pulled ( decay caused by large doses of chemotherapy for breast cancer in 2000 and large doses of pain medication). I will also need a set of dentures. My teeth are breaking off and becoming infected. I started to see a dentist and after only six teeth pulled I owed them $ 1400.00, which I am now trying to pay off. I cannot afford that kind of money. I have worked all of my life and don't expect something for nothing. I am a single parent of a grown son, whom I raised by myself. I have pretty much done everything on my own. I just need help in finding an answer or a way to get through this. It is hard enough these days for anyone to make it, for any senior with any type of medical problem it is almost impossible for them to get any help. I want to feel good again and not have to worry about my health and money. I have three lovely grandchildren that I want to spend time with.
I have been saving money toward my dental work but I'm sure it isn't enough yet. I would not expect anyone to give me money, I need to know how do I go about getting help in a timely manner as well as affordable. Any thoughts and direction of any form will be greatly appreciated. All knowledge will be passed on to benefit others.
Thanks In Advance
